Shelbyville, Tennessee’s Times-Gazette is running a story about a local funeral director being deployed to the Gulf coast (Funeral director deploys to hurricane region):

“‘DMort is telling us to expect up to 40,000 bodies,’ Dan Buckner said, quoting officials with the Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team, a volunteer arm of Homeland Security.”

Oh my god.

I hope this is a mistake. And I hope no one will get suckered into feeling relieved if it’s “just” 4,000 bodies.
